At Excel Tool & Die Co. we are a trusted supplier of electronic stampings, producing complex custom parts for a variety of industry applications. In the project outlined here, a customer in the electronics industry commissioned us to manufacture a wire terminal on a continuous reel. This part would be incorporated into an automated assembly process. The continuous reel format allows for rapid and simplified electronics production, easily integrated into automated production lines and eliminating the slow and costly hand assembly method. Production is initiated utilizing .040″ thick brass, that is progressive die stamped from a .500″ wide coil. The tightest tolerances of ±.005” are achieved during production. Parts are then cleaned and de-greased to remove all oil and metal residue. Thorough inspections are also performed to ensure accuracy, and a comprehensive in-process quality program is used to maintain compliance with stringent industry standards.
The wire terminal is produced at a yearly rate of 70,000 units and released as agreed according to a blanket order.
